ГЛАВНЫЙ МОНУМЕНТ ПОБЕДЫ.

В 1995 г. по решению Правительства Москвы на
площади Победителей был возведен Монумент Победы, представляющий собой
классическую трехгранную стелу высотой 141,8 метра, что символизирует 1418
дней и ночей Великой Отечественной войны (проект З.Церетели). Грани стелы
покрыты бронзовыми изображениями основных сражений войны, начиная от
обороны Брестской крепости и заканчивая победным майским салютом 1945
года. На стометровой отметке обелиска закреплена как бы летящая крылатая
бронзовая фигура богини Победы - Ники. В правой руке она держит сияющий
венок Славы. У ее ног два бронзовых ангела трубят в трубы Победы. Монумент
как будто вырастает из подиума, стоящего на массивных черных и красных
гранитных блоках. Сам гранитный подиум установлен на небольшом насыпном
кургане. У подножия стелы на постаменте стоит бронзовая конная статуя
Святого Георгия Победоносца, копьем поражающего
дракона.
MAIN VICTORY MONUMENT.
In 1995, under the Moscow Government decision, the
Victory Monument was built at Square of Victors. It is a classic three-edged stela,
141,8 meters of height, that is to symbolize 1418 days and nights of the Great Patriotic
War (projected by Z.Tsereteli). Stela sides are decorated with bronze depictions of the
principal battles of the war, starting from Brest Fortress Defense and ending with the
victorious May salute in 1945. On the obelisk, at a 100-metre mark, it is fixed a would be flying winged bronze figure of goddess of Victory - Nika. She has a shining glory
garland in her right hand and two bronze angels sounding the Victory trumpets, by her
feet. Monument is placed on the platform, supported by the massive black and red
granite blocks. The granite platform stands on a small poured barrow. At the foot of
the stela there is a pedestal with the bronze equestrian statue of Saint George the
Victor, striking a dragon with his
spear.
